Description

Wow, this one was daunting to tackle after Chapter 18. It's more a transitional chapter with a lot of setup, compared to the previous one, but I still struggled with wanting it to measure up. It took me a long time to figure out where I wanted to go with it and I can't shake the feeling I could have made it more compact. Regardless, it was a fun challenge and I hope you enjoy another round with the fearsome four :D

With school out of the way maybe I can get another chapter up before the end of May. We'll see ;)

Very solid start, I have to say. From my own experience it's incredibly difficult to depict the muddled mind of your main character in 1st person. Quite a lot easier in 3rd person as you can explain who is feeling what, but in 1st person the writer really has to put themselves in their character's shoes. You did an incredible job doing this with Amelia. It felt very natural to have that sort of fever dream-like sequence, caught between what was Amelia's reality as she awakens and fantasy as she slips into unconsciousness again.

Also enjoyed the setting up of the main plot, how you've split up Gemma with Clive and Amelia with Bernard. Clive's going to be exhausted when he's done investigating with Gemma (not like he's not all the time anyway ;P) And talking of Bernard, I really enjoyed the more in-depth look into his character. Perhaps I've missed something in the past few chapters but I feel as if this is the most we've got to see into Bernard's story. Clive's, Amelia's and Gemma's readers know for the most part but Bernard's seems to be unfolding slowly, which is very like him in character. Not very willing to talk on anything that makes him uncomfortable. ("I am the death of parties." I agree, Bernard. I agree.)

Very excited for the next chapter to see how what you've set up unfolds :D
